Can zirconia crowns be cemented with regular glass ionomer?
Yes, conventional glass ionomer and resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGI) cements work well for monolithic zirconia crowns on retentive preps. RMGI is preferred over conventional GI because of higher flexural strength and lower solubility. The prep needs at least 4mm of axial wall height and a taper of 6-10 degrees for RMGI to provide adequate retention.
