The two cementation pathways for IPS e.max
Ivoclar Vivadent's IPS e.max cementation guide defines two acceptable workflows for lithium disilicate restorations. Adhesive bonding is the default for anterior crowns, veneers, and any preparation under 1.5mm in axial wall thickness. Self-adhesive resin cementation is acceptable for posterior crowns with retentive preparations at or above 1.5mm thickness and 4mm axial wall height. The decision lives with the clinician, but the surface prep on the lab side is identical either way.
