The five records every case needs

Every restorative case shipped to Dani Dental arrives with the same five-part bite packet: centric occlusion (CO) or centric relation (CR) registration, opposing arch record, shade map, written Rx, and case-specific notes on parafunction or occlusal scheme. Missing any one of these adds 24-48 hours to the case while the technician on the bench calls the practice for clarification. Per our 2025 internal case audit, incomplete bite records were the single largest driver of avoidable remakes, accounting for roughly 38% of remake root-cause codes.

Do I need a face-bow for single-unit crowns?

No. For a single crown or short-span bridge in a stable occlusion, an average-value articulator mounting is acceptable and routine. Face-bow transfers add meaningful accuracy for full-arch cases, full-mouth rehabs, and anterior esthetic cases where the occlusal plane orientation matters to the final result. If you are unsure, note the case complexity in the Rx and the Dani Dental technician will flag a face-bow request before fabrication starts.

PVS bite registration or digital buccal bite scan, which is better?

Both work when captured correctly. Digital buccal bite scans are faster and skip the shipping step, but require the patient to close into stable maximum intercuspation during the scan; any slide compromises the record. PVS registrations remain the standard for full-arch and CR records taken at an altered VDO. For routine crown and bridge on intact occlusion, a properly captured digital buccal bite is sufficient and arrives at the Dani lab inside the same scan file.

What goes on the written Rx beyond shade?

The Dani Dental Rx template captures shade, material selection, margin design, occlusal contact preference (light or full centric), excursive scheme (canine guidance or group function), parafunction notes (bruxism, clenching, night guard worn), contact tightness preference, and any patient-specific notes the technician should know. Anterior cases also need midline reference, incisal edge position notes, and approved photos of the provisional or wax-up if esthetics are being matched forward.
