For restorative dentists sending anterior crown cases, lithium disilicate (marketed as IPS e.max by Ivoclar) is the working default. The material runs around 400 MPa flexural strength, etches and bonds predictably with resin cement, and takes stain and glaze layering that reproduces incisal translucency on centrals and laterals. Ivoclar's clinical data on e.max, tracked since the material's 2005 launch, shows survival rates above 95% at 10 years for single-unit anterior crowns when bonded adhesively.
