The structural difference
Monolithic zirconia crowns are CAD-designed and milled from a single puck of yttria-stabilized zirconia, then stained and glazed. No porcelain veneering. The whole crown is one material. Flexural strength sits at 1,200 MPa or higher for 3Y-TZP formulations, and modern multilayer pucks (3Y at the cervical, 5Y at the incisal) blend strength with translucency in one piece.
