What information is required on a complete lab Rx?

A complete Rx includes the tooth number, material selection (zirconia, e.max, PFM, gold, etc.), body shade plus stump shade for translucent materials, margin design (chamfer, shoulder, knife-edge), occlusal scheme and any opposing dentition notes, contact preferences, and anterior characterization or staining instructions. Missing any of these triggers a hold-call from the lab and adds 24-48 hours to the case. How long should a single-unit crown take from submission to delivery?

On a digital workflow with a clean intraoral scan and complete Rx, a single-unit monolithic zirconia or lithium disilicate crown should return in 3-5 business days from lab acceptance. PFM and layered anterior cases run 5-7 business days because of the additional ceramic build-up time. Cases requiring custom shade matching at the lab, where the patient comes in for shade verification, add another 2-3 days. Dani Dental publishes these turnaround windows in writing and tracks performance against them monthly.

Can I submit a case to the lab directly from my intraoral scanner?

Yes. Dani Dental accepts direct scanner-to-lab transmission from 3Shape TRIOS, iTero, Medit i700 and i900, Planmeca Emerald, and Primescan, with the STL or PLY files arriving in the lab portal within minutes of the scan being closed. The Rx is completed in the same portal session. This eliminates the 24-hour shipping window for physical impressions and is the single largest lever for compressing case turnaround on crown and bridge.
