This front-end check catches fit problems at the CAD stage, not after the retainer ships. The scan-to-production window is same business day for files received before noon Arizona time. We use 0.75 mm Zendura FLX biocompatible polyurethane as our standard retainer material. Zendura FLX is chosen specifically for its balance between rigidity and patient-tolerable flexibility over extended nightly wear, a property that sets it apart from generic 0.040 PETG sheet stock common at volume-only labs. For cases requiring a firmer shell, 1.0 mm Zendura Classic is available on request with no lead-time penalty. Thermoforming is performed on a Drufomat Scan pressure former calibrated per manufacturer specification every 90 days. Forming pressure, temperature profile, and cooling time are logged per batch. This is not an informal check. Every production run generates a batch record tied to the case number, and that record is available to the ordering clinician on request. If a retainer fails the post-form visual and caliper inspection, it is remade before it reaches the shipping stage, not returned for credit after it reaches the patient. Finishing is handled by the same technician who reviewed the digital model. Margins are trimmed to the scalloped gingival outline approved in the file review step, edges are polished to eliminate any rough contact, and the retainer is seated on a printed model before packaging. Each unit ships in a labeled protective case with the case number, arch designation, patient ID code, and the direct phone line of the fabricating technician. If fit is off at delivery, that technician is reachable within one business day, not routed through a general call center.
