Every night guard case begins with a materials decision, not a template. When you submit the case, the intake form asks three questions: bruxism severity (mild, moderate, heavy), whether the prescription is maxillary or mandibular, and whether digital scan files are available or a PVS impression is coming by courier. That information routes the case to the correct fabrication track before a technician touches it. No generic-queue handoffs. For digital cases we accept STL and PLY files from any major intraoral scanner including iTero, 3Shape TRIOS, and Medit. Files go into our 3Shape Dental System workflow for die trimming and articulation, then to in-house 5-axis milling or heat-press fabrication depending on material. Hard acrylic appliances are milled from pre-polymerized PMMA puck stock and hand-finished to the prescribed thickness. Dual-laminate appliances use a pressure-formed soft inner layer laminated to a hard outer shell, heat-processed in a Drufomat press. Neither format is outsourced. Occlusal adjustment is done on a Panadent articulator set to the patient's recorded vertical. The technician checks centric stops, lateral excursion clearance, and anterior guidance on every appliance before it leaves the bench. A printed articulation report ships with each case. If a stop is off, the appliance does not leave the lab. Quality inspection uses a 6-point checklist: thickness at three measured zones, occlusal contact pattern verified with 8-micron Bausch articulating foil, edge finish, retentive fit on the model, surface polish, and label accuracy. A case that fails any checkpoint is remade before shipping, not patched. That is why the 2024 remake rate stayed below 3%. Shipping uses next-day courier by default for most Arizona and Southwest-region practices, with a tracked two-day option for practices outside that zone. The technician who finished the case includes a direct phone number in the box. If the fit is off at the chair, that technician answers, not a call center.

HOW IT IS BUILT

From prescription to seated case.

01

Prescription in

Send a scan file or a model with your RX. A technician reads your intent before any design begins.

02

Design & verify

We design to your margin and occlusion, then verify the fit against your prescription before it ships.

03

Build at the bench

Milled, pressed, or hand-layered as the case calls for, finished by a named technician.

04

Back to your chair

Pre-paid shipping returns the case ready to seat, with the technician reachable if anything needs an adjustment.

This is our standard pipeline. The exact steps for dental night guard are being detailed and will appear here.

MATERIALS

What goes in the mouth.

The material options for dental night guard, from zirconia and lithium disilicate to hand-layered porcelain, are being written up. Ask for a Doctor Kit and a technician will talk through the right choice for your case.

CASE WORK

Judge the work on its result.

Before-and-after case work for dental night guard is being photographed at the studio. The best proof is a case of your own. Send one and see the finish on your chair.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What dentists ask about dental night guard

What impression or scan formats do you accept for night guard cases?
We accept STL and PLY files from iTero, 3Shape TRIOS, Medit, and most other intraoral scanners. For analog cases we work from PVS impressions shipped in your preferred courier packaging. If you are sending impressions, pour the model on your end or let us know on the prescription form and we will pour it here. Either path reaches the same 5-business-day production clock once materials arrive.
Which night guard types does Dani Dental fabricate in-house?
Three formats: hard acrylic (PMMA, milled), dual-laminate (soft inner, hard outer, pressure-formed), and soft single-layer (EVA or similar, vacuum-formed). All three are processed at our Arizona lab. Nothing is outsourced to a milling center. The right format depends on bruxism severity and the clinician's preference; the intake form walks through that decision.
How do you verify occlusal fit before the appliance ships?
Every appliance is checked on a Panadent articulator set to the patient's recorded vertical. The technician verifies centric stops, lateral excursion clearance, and anterior guidance with 8-micron Bausch articulating foil. A printed articulation report ships with the case. If any stop is incorrect, the appliance is remade, not adjusted with a bur after the fact.
What is your remake policy if the night guard does not fit at the chair?
Call or text the technician listed in the box. If the fit issue is traceable to a fabrication error, we remake at no charge and prioritize it in the production queue, typically shipping the corrected appliance within 3 business days. We ask that you return the original appliance and note the specific fit problem so the technician can identify what changed between the bench and the chair.
Can you match an existing night guard thickness a patient is used to?
Yes. Note the target thickness in millimeters on the prescription form and specify which zones (anterior, posterior, or uniform). Our standard hard acrylic appliance is fabricated at 2 mm posterior and 1.5 mm anterior by default, but we mill to custom specs within the structural limits of the material. For dual-laminate, note the preferred combined thickness and we will adjust the hard-shell layer accordingly.
Do you offer rush fabrication for night guard cases?
Rush turnaround of 3 business days is available for an additional fee noted on the current fee schedule. Rush cases must be submitted with digital scan files; analog impression cases add courier transit time that the lab cannot compress. Mark the prescription form as rush and call the lab to confirm queue availability before submitting, especially for end-of-week cases.
How do high-volume practices or DSOs set up recurring night guard accounts?
Practices sending more than 20 night guard cases per month can request a volume pricing review. We do not have a procurement maze: email the lab directly, request the volume tier sheet, and a conversation happens within 48 hours. DSO accounts with multiple locations can use a single billing relationship and separate location codes for tracking. Setup takes one call and a signed lab agreement, not a 6-month vendor review cycle.
