Dani Dental's digital pipeline has been running on intraoral scan acceptance since 2019. Send a scan from any major IOS platform, and our CAD team opens it same day. No physical impressions required. No couriers to schedule.

Every digital case enters our pipeline through a single intake portal built around open-architecture STL and PLY file acceptance. We accept scans from 3Shape TRIOS, Dentsply Sirona Primescan, Align iTero, Carestream, Medit, and four additional platforms without charging conversion or reformatting fees. The file lands in our CAD queue and receives a technician acknowledgment within the same business day, Monday through Friday. That technician stays on the case through final delivery. Design runs on 3Shape Dental System CAD software with a library maintained against the current Dentsply Sirona and Ivoclar material specs. Every crown margin is reviewed by a human technician before the file goes to mill, not after. This is where most labs lose time: they mill first, then find a margin discrepancy at the try-in. We catch it in CAD. The file only moves to production once the design meets our internal dimensional tolerances, which mirror the ISO 6872 flexural strength thresholds for the material in use. Milling runs on a Roland DWX-52DCi and a Yenadent D30 unit dedicated to zirconia and PMMA blocks. Block selection follows the case-specific shade prescription from the submitting doctor, not a default. For full-contour zirconia, we use Katana UTML and STML multilayer blanks for anterior esthetics and Katana HT+ for posterior load-bearing cases. Material traceability is documented per case: batch number, block lot, and firing cycle log are retained for 3 years and available on request. For surgical guide cases and implant-supported prosthetics, the digital workflow extends upstream. Doctors send CBCT DICOM files alongside the intraoral scan, and our technicians merge the datasets in 3Shape Implant Studio. We design the guide, confirm the sleeve position against the planned implant axis, and return a PDF design report to the surgeon before printing. The printed guide ships with the design report attached so the OR team has the engineering rationale in the room. Communication through the workflow uses a direct technician line, not a general inbox. The technician who opens the scan is the person the doctor calls with questions. That is not a routing policy, it is a staffing decision: cases are assigned at intake, not floated through a pool. Doctors working on time-sensitive full-arch or multi-unit cases can request a video design review before the file goes to mill, scheduled in 30-minute windows and conducted over screen share with the CAD technician.

Which intraoral scan platforms does Dani Dental accept?
We accept STL and PLY files from 3Shape TRIOS, Dentsply Sirona Primescan, Align iTero, Carestream, Medit, and several additional platforms, eight or more in total as of 2025. No conversion fees apply. If your scanner exports an open-format file, send us a test case and we will confirm compatibility before you commit a clinical case.
Do I still need to send a physical impression if I submit a digital scan?
No. For crown and bridge, inlays, onlays, veneers, and implant-supported crowns on pre-designed abutments, an intraoral scan is sufficient. Physical impressions are still accepted and poured in-house if your workflow requires them. For full-arch implant cases, we may request a bite record or opposing model depending on the prosthetic design, and your assigned technician will let you know at intake.
What is the typical turnaround time for a digitally submitted crown and bridge case?
Five business days or fewer for most crown and bridge cases submitted as intraoral scans, based on our 2024 full-year data. Complex multi-unit or full-arch cases take longer and the technician will give you a case-specific timeline at acknowledgment, usually within the same business day you submit.
How does the digital workflow handle surgical guide design?
Send us your CBCT DICOM data alongside the intraoral scan and the planned implant system and diameter. Our CAD team merges the datasets in 3Shape Implant Studio, designs the guide, and returns a PDF design report for your review before printing. The printed guide ships with that report so your OR team has the sleeve positioning rationale on hand during the procedure.
Which technician handles my case, and how do I reach them?
Cases are assigned to a named technician at intake, and that person stays with the case through delivery. You receive their direct phone line with the case acknowledgment. No routing through a general inbox, no callback queue. For full-arch and complex implant cases, you can request a 30-minute video design review with the CAD technician before the file moves to production.
What CAD software and milling equipment does Dani Dental use?
Design runs on 3Shape Dental System. Milling uses a Roland DWX-52DCi and a Yenadent D30 unit. Zirconia cases use Katana multilayer blanks, with UTML and STML selected for anterior esthetics and HT+ for posterior load cases. Material traceability, including block batch number, lot, and firing cycle log, is retained for three years per case and available on request.
What is your remake rate for digital cases, and what happens if a case does not fit?
Our remake rate for digitally submitted cases was under 2.5% across all of 2024. If a case does not seat correctly and the cause traces back to our design or fabrication, we remake it at no charge and prioritize it in the production queue. We ask that you send the seated scan or a photo of the discrepancy so the technician can document the root cause and close the loop.
Can labs without in-house milling use Dani Dental for milling services?
Yes. We provide milling-as-a-service for other laboratories. Send your 3Shape or open-format STL design file and the material specification, and we mill, finish, and ship the unit back to your lab.
