Every snoring appliance case starts with a digital or physical bite registration at the clinician's prescribed advancement position. Dani Dental does not estimate advancement; if the clinician sends a George Gauge or Leaf Gauge bite, that exact position is captured in the digital file before any fabrication begins. Cases arriving as intraoral scans are processed through a validated STL-to-CAD workflow that preserves the interarch relationship to within 0.05 mm. Cases arriving as PVS impressions are poured in high-expansion Type IV stone and scanned on a desktop scanner before any wax-up or fabrication step touches them. For titratable designs, Dani Dental fabricates EMA-style appliances using 3 mm hard acrylic upper and lower trays with calibrated elastic strap sets providing 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, and 5 mm advancement increments. The tray bodies are milled from pre-shaded PMMA puck stock, not heat-cured over a stone model, which eliminates the dimensional distortion common to traditional processing. For rigid monolithic designs, the single-piece MAD is milled in hard-grade acrylic with the advancement locked at the clinician's prescribed position and a bilateral bite stop incorporated to prevent clenching load on the anterior teeth. Quality verification at Dani Dental runs a three-check sequence before any appliance ships. First, the technician seating the case checks the appliance against the digital model for marginal integrity and occlusal contact accuracy. Second, the case is articulated on the poured models at the prescribed bite to confirm bilateral posterior contact. Third, the shipping checklist requires the technician to sign off on tray extension, clasp engagement if present, and elastic strap compatibility for titratable cases. Cases that fail any of the three checks are remade before shipping, not adjusted after the fact. Clinicians new to prescribing MADs through Dani Dental receive a one-page prescription guide covering the four data points needed per case: advancement measurement method used, prescribed millimeters of advancement, upper and lower arch impressions or scans, and patient maximum opening measurement. That information set eliminates the back-and-forth that typically delays snoring appliance cases by three to five days at less organized labs. Prescription questions go directly to the technician assigned to the case, not a general inbox.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What dentists ask about mouth guard for snoring

What impression or scan format does Dani Dental accept for snoring appliance cases?
PVS impressions in a stock or custom tray, physical bite registration at the prescribed advancement position, intraoral scan files in STL or OBJ format, and digital bite records from any major intraoral scanner. Cases arriving as scans skip the pour-and-scan step and enter CAD fabrication the same day the file is received. Include the prescribed advancement measurement in millimeters on the prescription form regardless of format.
Which mandibular advancement designs does Dani Dental fabricate?
Two designs are available. The titratable EMA-style appliance uses hard PMMA trays with interchangeable elastic straps at 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, and 5 mm advancement increments, giving the patient and clinician room to dial in the optimal position post-delivery. The rigid monolithic appliance locks advancement at the prescribed position, suited for patients who tolerate fixed positioning and prefer a thinner, less bulky appliance.
What is the standard turnaround time for a snoring appliance?
Five business days from receipt of a complete case. Complete means impressions or scans plus the bite registration at the prescribed advancement position plus a filled-out prescription card. Cases missing the bite registration or advancement measurement are held and the clinician is contacted the same day. Incomplete cases that sit waiting for information are the single most common reason appliance delivery runs past five days.
How does Dani Dental handle the advancement measurement?
Dani Dental fabricates to the clinician's prescribed advancement, not an estimated one. If the clinician uses a George Gauge, Leaf Gauge, or equivalent protrusive bite device to record the position, that physical or digital bite record is used directly. If the clinician sends a percentage-of-maximum-protrusion prescription, Dani Dental requires the maximum protrusion measurement in millimeters to calculate the absolute advancement distance before fabricating.
What material are the appliances made from?
Tray bodies are milled from CAD-grade PMMA puck stock, hard-grade formulation. Milled PMMA holds dimensional accuracy through the fabrication process in a way that heat-cured acrylic does not, which matters for fit at the margins. Elastic straps on titratable designs are the standard EMA elastic set, compatible with any EMA tray fabricated to Erkodent specifications. Hardware is nickel-free on all standard cases; note this on the prescription card for patients with metal sensitivities.
Does the appliance include a warranty or remake policy?
Dani Dental remakes any appliance that exhibits a fabrication defect, dimensional error, or fit failure caused by a lab-side issue at no charge within 90 days of delivery. Remakes caused by a change in the patient's prescribed advancement position, a new impression, or patient-side damage are fabricated at a reduced re-case rate. Clinicians are not charged for turnaround on a remake that originated from a lab error.
Can Dani Dental fabricate snoring appliances for a multi-location DSO account?
Yes. DSO accounts with 10 to 30 locations are a standard account type at Dani Dental. A single account number covers all locations, consolidated monthly billing is available, and courier pickup can be coordinated across the Arizona metro area. The prescription workflow is the same across all locations, which removes the variability that multi-location groups typically encounter when individual offices are using different labs.
How is the snoring appliance different from a TMD night guard fabricated at Dani Dental?
A snoring appliance positions the mandible forward at a prescribed advancement distance to open the airway. A TMD night guard holds the mandible in centric relation or a therapeutic position to reduce muscle load and protect the dentition. They share a PMMA milled base material and the same quality-check sequence at Dani Dental, but the bite registration protocol, the design parameters, and the clinical objective are different. Prescribing both for the same patient requires two separate bite records.
