San Diego Occlusal Splint / Night Guard

San Diego dentists treating bruxism, TMD, and parafunction need appliances that fit the first time. A night guard that returns with any rock or pressure point goes back in a bag, burns chair time on a re-impression or rescan, and tests patient patience. Dani Dental fabricates hard acrylic, soft thermoplastic, and dual-laminate night guards from conventional PVS impressions or directly from intraoral scan files in STL or PLY format. Every occlusal splint leaves the bench equilibrated and confirmed against articulated models before shipping.

  • Pre-paid two-way shipping, nationwide
  • A named technician on every case
  • Margins verified against your prescription

THE DETAIL

How we build it.

Most dental labs handling occlusal appliances treat them as low-margin commodity work. The result is generic workflows: one or two standard thicknesses, minimal Rx review, and a technician who has never spoken to the prescribing dentist. When something comes back with a fit issue, the communication path runs through customer service representatives who were not at the bench. That friction is where chair time disappears. Dani Dental assigns a named technician to each account. San Diego practices ordering occlusal splints get a direct contact number for the person who fabricated the appliance, not a ticket number and a callback window measured in days. If the bite registration reads ambiguous or the scan file has a soft zone near the second molar, that technician calls before fabricating, not after shipping something that will not seat. Remake requests, when they do occur, are triaged within 24 hours with no-fee reprocessing on confirmed lab-side errors. The broader category of national-network labs can offer volume pricing, but the tradeoff is anonymized production and response times measured in business days. Regional single-facility labs often match our turnaround but lack the digital intake infrastructure that San Diego's scanner-heavy practices now expect. Dani Dental sits at the intersection: a family-run bench with three decades of fabrication history and a fully digital submission portal that connects directly to production. For a dentist managing a bruxism caseload across multiple active patients, consistent fit, named accountability, and a five-to-seven-day turnaround without ambiguity are the actual value drivers.

GETTING CASES TO US

Logistics, to the bench.

For San Diego practices running digital workflows, the process is straightforward: upload the scan through our portal, select the appliance type and hardness specification, and the case enters production the same day. No gypsum pours on your end, no delays waiting for models to set. Practices that have switched fully to digital submission report cutting their turnaround expectation from ten days to five to seven, with no degradation in fit accuracy. Occlusal coverage, thickness, and finish specifications are not defaults here. If your protocol calls for a 3mm hard acrylic upper with a flat occlusal surface and no anterior ramp, that is what ships. If a specific patient needs a dual-laminate with a soft inner layer for comfort tolerance, specify it on the Rx and it is built to that. San Diego's coastal humidity and temperature swings do not affect appliance material selection at the lab level, but if you are counseling patients on storage habits, hard acrylic remains the most dimensionally stable option long-term.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What practices ask

Does Dani Dental accept intraoral scan files from San Diego practices for night guard fabrication?
Yes. We accept STL and PLY files from all major intraoral scanners currently in use, including iTero, Medit, and 3Shape systems. Upload through the case portal and select your appliance type on the Rx. Models are printed in-house and the appliance enters fabrication the same day the file is received, provided the scan passes our quality check for coverage and occlusal detail.
What occlusal appliance types does Dani Dental fabricate?
We fabricate hard acrylic night guards, soft thermoplastic guards, dual-laminate appliances with a soft inner and hard outer shell, anterior deprogrammers, and full-coverage Michigan-style splints. Thickness and coverage specifications are built to your Rx, not defaulted to a standard template. If your protocol calls for a specific design, write it on the prescription and it gets built to that.
What is the turnaround time for night guards shipped to San Diego?
Standard fabrication runs five to seven business days from receipt of an acceptable impression or approved scan file. Rush cases with advance notice can be accommodated in three to four business days depending on current queue volume. Shipping to San Diego from our Arizona facility adds one business day via ground carrier, or same-day with overnight if the case is time-sensitive.
How does Dani Dental handle a night guard that does not seat correctly?
Contact your assigned technician directly, not a general service line. If the fit issue traces to a lab-side fabrication error, the case is reprocessed at no charge and prioritized in the queue. We ask for photos of the seating issue and the original impression or scan file reference to diagnose before restarting. Turnaround on confirmed remake cases is typically three to five business days from intake of the documentation.
Can I specify a flat occlusal surface versus an articulated surface on a hard acrylic splint?
Yes, and this is worth specifying clearly on the Rx. Flat-plane guards and fully articulated splints serve different clinical purposes, and defaulting one when you need the other creates a problem at delivery. Write the occlusal surface design, the arch, and the thickness on the prescription. If the bite registration does not give us enough information to build to spec, your technician will contact you before fabricating.
Is there a minimum order volume for San Diego practices to work with Dani Dental?
No minimum order requirement. Single-unit night guard cases receive the same named-technician workflow and turnaround commitment as high-volume accounts. Practices placing their first case can request a Doctor Kit through the website, which includes current pricing, material sample cards, and Rx pads formatted for occlusal appliance orders.
