San Francisco Intraoral Scan Acceptance
San Francisco dental practices have moved faster on digital workflows than most metro markets. Practices along the Embarcadero corridor, in the Financial District, and across the Mission have been submitting intraoral scans for three or more years now, and their expectations have shifted accordingly. They are not looking for a lab that tolerates digital files. They want a lab that is built around them.
- Pre-paid two-way shipping, nationwide
- A named technician on every case
- Margins verified against your prescription
- Tempe + Tucson locations

THE DETAIL
How we build it.
Most large national-network labs accept intraoral scans as a checkbox feature, not a core competency. Files pass through intake queues staffed by generalists who flag problems slowly or not at all, and the dentist finds out about a margin ambiguity when the crown arrives and does not seat. Dani Dental routes every scan to a named technician before design begins. That technician owns the case from intake to ship and carries a direct phone line printed on the packing slip. If the scan has a problem, you hear about it in hours, not after delivery. The Bay Area market specifically has a high density of practices running multi-scanner environments, where an associate uses an iTero and the owner uses a TRIOS, or where a DSO group standardized on Medit but inherited Cerec units from an acquisition. A lab that handles one format natively and converts the rest introduces tolerance stack-up at the conversion step. Dani Dental ingests all of these natively in their source format, which eliminates one variable from a workflow that already has enough of them. On the quality accountability side: the less-than-2.5% remake rate on scan-originated cases is not a marketing estimate. It is tracked per case type per technician on a rolling 12-month basis, and technicians see their own numbers monthly. That internal accountability loop is what keeps the number low, not a quality-control layer bolted on after the fact. San Francisco practices that have switched from high-volume regional labs typically cite two things within the first 90 days: fewer remake conversations and a faster resolution when one does happen.
GETTING CASES TO US
Logistics, to the bench.
Dani Dental accepts intraoral scans natively from every major scanner platform currently in clinical use. iTero Element 5D, 3Shape TRIOS 4 and 5, Medit i700, Carestream CS 3700, Planmeca PlanScan, and Cerec Omnicam all route directly into our digital intake queue without file conversion delays or reformatting fees. When a San Francisco clinician submits a scan before 2:00 PM Pacific, that case enters design queue the same business day. A technician review note goes back within four business hours if there is a margin question or occlusal concern worth flagging before fabrication begins. The restoration materials available on scan-originated cases are the full Dani catalog: monolithic zirconia in 3Y, 4Y, and 5Y translucency grades, multilayer zirconia, full-contour e.max, PFM, and screw-retained implant crowns on major implant platforms. There is no reduced material list for digital submissions. The fabrication chain from scan to shipment is the same whether the case originates in San Francisco or anywhere else in our service region, and same-day FedEx pickup at our Arizona facility covers next-morning delivery to SFO-area practices on most case types.
