San Francisco CAD/CAM Milled Restoration

San Francisco dentists run high-volume, tech-forward practices. Patients walk in having already researched their treatment options, and they notice fit, shade, and surface texture. A milled restoration that seats first time and photographs well is not optional in this market. It is expected. Dani Dental's CAD/CAM workflow starts the moment your intraoral scan or CBCT file lands in our portal. We design in-house using Exocad, mill monolithic zirconia, layered zirconia, and full-contour e.max on calibrated 5-axis units, and verify margin integrity before shipping.

  • Pre-paid two-way shipping, nationwide
  • A named technician on every case
  • Margins verified against your prescription
  • Tempe + Tucson locations

THE DETAIL

How we build it.

National-network labs that serve the Bay Area typically route your case through a centralized milling hub in a different time zone, assign it to a production queue rather than a named technician, and return a remake request form when fit is off. That model works at scale. It does not work well when your patient is scheduled Thursday and your crown came back open at the margin. Dani Dental is a named-technician lab. The person who designs your case is the person who signs off on it, and their direct contact is in the box when it ships. Communication turnaround is where most lab relationships quietly deteriorate. A question sent Friday afternoon that gets answered Tuesday is a chair-time problem. Dani Dental commits to same-business-day responses on case status inquiries, and pre-shipment photos are available on request for complex cases without an additional fee. If a case needs to be remade, it is remade at no charge, no negotiation. The remake rate sitting below 2.5 percent across all milled-restoration units is the number that makes that promise sustainable, not just aspirational. Pricing for Bay Area practices is quoted transparently at submission, not after delivery. Monolithic zirconia crowns, layered-zirconia anteriors, and e.max units each carry a flat per-unit rate posted in the client portal. There is no fuel surcharge, no digital-file fee, no small-case minimum penalty. San Francisco practices sending two units a month and those sending forty units a month see the same per-unit rate.

GETTING CASES TO US

Logistics, to the bench.

No file hand-offs to a third-party milling center, no ambiguity about who touched the case. For Bay Area practices running same-day or next-day promises to patients, the turnaround window matters more than almost any other variable. Standard cases ship within five business days of scan receipt. Rush cases (confirmed at the time of submission) ship in two to three business days depending on material and case complexity. Every case ships with the direct line of the technician who ran it, so if your seating appointment reveals a single point of contact issue, you are not calling a general support queue at 8 a.m. Shade communication is one of the most common friction points between SF-area cosmetically active practices and dental labs. We address it explicitly. Vita Classical and Vita 3D-Master shade maps are standard. Custom-stained or hand-layered veneering on a milled coping is available when a monolithic unit will not satisfy the aesthetic requirement. Send the pre-op photos and the shade tab photo together; our technicians use both, not one or the other.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What practices ask

What file formats does Dani Dental accept for milled-restoration cases from San Francisco practices?
We accept STL, PLY, and DCM files from all major intraoral scanner brands including iTero, 3Shape TRIOS, Carestream, and Medit. Files upload directly to the client portal. If your scanner outputs a proprietary format, contact us before submission and we will confirm compatibility within one business day. Physical impressions are also accepted and scanned in-house at no additional charge.
What is the standard turnaround time for a milled crown shipped to the Bay Area?
Standard cases ship within five business days of scan or impression receipt at our Arizona lab. Rush cases submitted before noon Arizona time typically ship within two to three business days depending on material. Overnight carrier options are available for Bay Area delivery. Turnaround windows are confirmed at the time of case submission, not estimated after the fact.
Which milled-restoration materials does Dani Dental offer?
We mill monolithic zirconia (standard and high-translucency), layered zirconia with hand-applied feldspathic veneering, full-contour e.max (lithium disilicate), and PMMA for provisionals. Material selection depends on prep location, occlusal load, and aesthetic requirement. Our technicians will flag a material mismatch if the submitted prescription and the clinical photos suggest a conflict.
How does shade matching work for cosmetically active San Francisco practices?
We work from Vita Classical and Vita 3D-Master references as standard. Submit the pre-op photo and the shade tab photo together; our technicians use both. For anterior cases requiring custom staining or hand-layered veneering on a milled coping, note it in the case form and expect a one-business-day turnaround addition. Pre-shipment photos are available on request at no additional fee.
What is the remake policy if a milled restoration does not seat correctly?
Remakes caused by a lab error, margin discrepancy, or shade deviation beyond the submitted reference are completed at no charge. Contact the technician whose direct line is included in the shipment. Remake cases are prioritized in the production queue and typically ship within three business days. Cases where the issue traces to a scan artifact or prep geometry are reviewed together before we commit a material direction.
Is there a minimum case volume required to open a Dani Dental account from a San Francisco practice?
No minimum. Practices submitting two units a month and those submitting forty units a month receive the same per-unit pricing. Rates are posted in the client portal before your first submission. There are no fuel surcharges, digital-file fees, or small-case penalties added at invoicing. If your volume grows, pricing is renegotiated proactively, not after you ask.
